Ottawa TFC wants to be your home for soccer. Recognized as a National level club by Canada Soccer, Ottawa TFC's ultimate goal for the U9-U18 Open program is to ensure that your child participates in a safe, fun and social environment and falls in love with the beautiful game. Whether your player simply wants to play with friends or aspires to be the next big star, Ottawa TFC's coaches bring a fun approach to each session, focusing on learning by doing, building a larger repertoire of soccer movements and teaching the basic principles of play in a challenging environment.
What can I expect as a soccer parent?
Players at this age may be just starting their "careers" in soccer (see our Player Pathway), "skilling up" to try out competitive soccer or transitioning to "soccer for life" at a recreational level. They all need to develop their skills appropriately. Click here to know more about what all participants can expect in these programs.
The Open League games, which take place in a 7v7 format, are run by our most talented senior youth players, who are beginning their coaching journey at the club, along with volunteering parent game leaders. The aforementioned young game leaders are trained through Canada Soccer, and guided/supervised by our academy staff coaches. If you are interested in helping as a game leader yourself, please fill out the application form linked above! A modest coaching honorarium is provided to parent coaches and youth coaches who otherwise volunteer their time to help us create a great environment for the kids.
For all players U9-U18, teams are formed by gender taking into account registered players' ages and experience to make fun leagues with balanced teams. Our anticipated Open leagues are listed below, although they are subject to minor adjustment based upon actual registration numbers in each group:

Players are required to wear protective shin guards and shoes at all sessions (can be bought at any sports store). Soccer cleats are allowed and recommended for all age groups.
The registration fee includes an Ottawa TFC training shirt, black shorts, black socks, and a soccer ball. The uniform will be handed out during the first month of sessions - more details to be shared when confirmed. Players are required to wear this uniform at all games. The soccer ball is provided for each player to have the opportunity to train at home, and does not need to be brought to games!
Enthusiastic players who wish to have an additional training session each week can register for the optional Rec Tech program. This popular program consists of a station-format approach where players will work on fundamental skills. For more details, visit the Rec Tech Training page here.
