HOW TO BECOME A REFEREE

STEPS FOR NEW REFEREES

ONTARIO SOCCER

REQUIREMENTS

  • Entry Level Course: Must be aged 14 or older by March 31st of this year.

  • Small Sided Course: Must be aged 12 or older by March 31st of this year.

EQUIPMENT

Referees are encouraged to purchase their own equipment directly from the Eastern Ontario Soccer Team Shop.

RETURNING REFEREES

Returning referees will receive information directly from Ontario Soccer. To encourage early registration, Ontario Soccer offers a discount.

CANADA SOCCER ENTRY LEVEL COURSE

If you are 14 years of age on or before March 31st of this year, you are eligible to complete the Canada Soccer Entry Level Referee Course. Participants are required to complete all online modules, pass a written test and attend an on-field practical session.

  • Referee uniforms

    A referee uniform kit contains the following: shirt, shorts and socks, assistant referee flags, whistle with lanyard string, red/yellow card set and game report sheets.

    The uniform kit can be purchased through our supplier, or you can secure one on your own. The approximate cost of the full kit is $100.
