OTTAWA TFCSOCCER CLUB
The Men's First Team is Ottawa TFC's top men's team, competing in Ottawa's premier amateur league: the OCSL Men's Premier division. The First Team also typically enters cup competitions such as the Ottawa Cup and the provincially renowned Ontario Cup.
Our squad is typically led by a core of alumni who have come through the ranks at the club and gone on to play beyond the local levels. The team is rounded out by other local players who currently compete at the university/college level, as well as some of the best young graduates from the club.
Eligibility: born 2007 or earlier
Commitment: 2-3 events/week

Trial and selection process
The First Team squad will consist of roughly 17 players, selected by the club staff following the trial period. This period will begin in early April and take place in the form of pre-season training, which will include games-based sessions. Exact schedule information will only be communicated to players who have submitted their interest via the form above, and registered for a tryout through the club's registration platform, PowerUp.
What to register for
Players new to the First Team squad must register for an evaluation in PowerUp. - this is done by registering for the item called "2025 SUMMER Competitive Evaluation Fee » Men's Competitive". Registered players will then receive a communication from our staff required tryouts. Once the squad is finalized by the staff and players receive invitation letters, selected players will be required to complete their registration for the program by registering for the "2025 Summer ADULT » Men's First Team" item in PowerUp.
Players not selected
As with any competitive-level program, not all players who are trialing will be selected for the final squad. With that said, players who do not make the First Team squad may also be invited to join another Ottawa TFC Men's team. Staff Coach: Toni El-Asmar
After growing up at OTFC predecessor Capital United, Toni went on to play at Carleton University and win a provincial title as a captain at Algonquin College. He then played at semi-pro level in the CSL and League 1 Ontario for a few clubs, also winning an Ontario Cup with Gloucester Celtic. Toni started coaching at a young age, beginning at the Regional level with his boyhood club Capital United. Since the latter merged to become Ottawa TFC, he has gone on to coach OPDL teams as part of our Elite Academy and continued to find success with our Regional teams. He now leads the Men’s First Team program and is currently completing his CONCACAF B License.

Registration for the First Team program will include a training shirt along with shorts and socks to be used at training and matches. Jerseys will be provided by the staff and returned after the season. Players who already own an Ottawa TFC jersey can use their own - please communicate this with the relevant staff member once teams are formed.
