U9-U10 ACADEMY

PLAYERS BORN IN 2015 AND 2014

Welcome to Ottawa TFC's academy side!

The Ottawa TFC Academy program is the highest level of play at the club. It is home to the most passionate and committed players at the club, and serves as a pathway to our provincially and nationally acclaimed Junior and Senior Academy programs that start at 13 years of age. Players will work with some of the most talented and highly certified coaches in the region, in a fun, challenging, and development focused environment which stands toe-to-toe with every program in the country.

What can I expect as an academy soccer parent?

U9-U10 Academy players train three times weekly and compete in weekly game play. We compete in the top levels of competition available to us, whether these be in EODSA leagues, festivals and/or tournaments around the city, province and surrounding regions.

Teams are led by Canada Soccer certified coaches, and overseen by some of our most advanced staff coaches.  We are a National Level Youth Club, and the only club is the official Eastern Ontario youth affiliate of Toronto FC of Major League Soccer (MLS) - the highest professional level of play in North America. Players and parents in Ottawa TFC's academy program can be proud of being part of one of the most respected programs in Canada. Players will grow as people, athletes and leaders, through our club's core values and principles. They can realistically dream of moving up through the club's pathway to provincial, national and professional team programs, but they should should above all be prepared to have a lot of fun along their journey, and work hard towards their goals in a fun, safe, and challenging environment.

The U9-U10 Academy program the first key step in the pathway towards the club’s flagship U13+ Academy. It brings new challenges and increased intensity for enthusiastic players following the U4-U8 Grassroots programs, and aims to teach players the basics of the game. Players are expected to maintain the right mindset and work ethic, which will enable them to experience growth in technical ability, tactical understanding, physical capacities and mental/social skills by the time they graduate to the U11-U12 program.

U9 and U10 Academy players are temporarily split into teams for match-play, but can expect to train as a single U9-U10 Academy Squad during weekly sessions. A priority of the program is to continuously and appropriately challenge each player while allowing them to experience success.
