The U9-U12 Academy programs lead to our highly acclaimed Elite Academy which competes in the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL).  The program is the exclusive Eastern Ontario affiliate of Toronto FC of the MLS and forms one of the most respected development programs in the province.  


U9-U12 Program Details

Soccer Age: 

U9-U12

Season Length:

April to September (22 weeks)

Weekly Commitment:

U9-U10: 3 times weekly training plus weekly game. 1-2 festivals (half-day events) will also be entered during the season.

U11-U12: 4 times weekly training plus weekly game. 2-3 festivals/tournaments will also be played during the season. 

U13-U17: see Year Round Elite Academy 

Game Format:

U9-U10 - Players play 7 aside (7v7)

U11-U12 - Players play 9 aside (9v9)

Player Assessments:

Players wishing to join the Academy or Competitive Programs at Ottawa TFC are evaluated before the season starts for proper balancing of teams/programs. Begin by registering the player for the appropriate age of  "Base Registration" (ie: U10 Boys - Base Registration) and the "Competitive Evals".

Uniforms: 

All uniforms and gear are available for purchase through our retailer Evangelista Sports.  Click here for access to the online store.

Note: Sample sizes are available to try on at our Clubhouse. 

Costs:

2020 Evaluation Fee: $50 (non-refundable)

Base Player Registration Fee: $225 (before March 31st)

Non-Volunteer Fee: $50 per family (mandatory refundable fee for volunteering)


Once accepted to a Competitive/Academy program, an additional registration fee will apply. See Registration Site  for the exact amount of this fee.

This fee covers: 

  • Training fees
  • Additional field costs
  • Competitive league costs
  • Referee costs
  • Affiliation fees (Ontario Soccer, EODSA, etc).
  • Training shirts
  • Equipment costs
  • Administrative and insurance costs

Pre-Season Fee: $65 which covers:

  • Pre-season artificial turf and/or gym training costs.

Team fees: 

  • Team fees are extra and are determined by each team. Team fees typically cover expenses such as tournament/festivals costs, team building, incidental team by team costs, which are unique and specific for each team.  Players will obtain this fee from their coach/manager at the first team meeting.

 

Player Requirements: 
  • Players are required to wear protective shin guards and shoes at all games and practices.  Soccer cleats are allowed and recommended at all age groups.
  • Ontario Soccer (OS) Policy states that all jewellry including, but not limited to earrings and watches must be removed.  Taping earrings is also not allowed.  Jewelry poses an unnecessary risk to all players. 
  • Casts - hard casts are not permitted.
